20110522 - Flag Volunteers

Volunteers getting instructions, supplies, and doughnuts

On Saturday, D-Gargyles participated in placing flags on veteran tombstones at St. Agnes and Onondaga Valley Cemetery.  Nancy Depew does a great job organizing the event every year.  This year, the weather was great and the volunteers were plenty.  I brought the GPS with me and marked the locations where flags were placed.  Later on this week I hope to plot the locations on the cemetery map — time pending.

20110522 - Sanatorium Entrance

Onondaga Sanatorium Entrance & Staircase

Just before leaving St. Agnes Cemetery, we stopped by the entrance way to the former Onondaga Sanatorium.  Lori couldn’t wait to show us the relics of this old building :)  You can read more about Onondaga Sanatorium from this link.  According to Lori, this was the only entrance to the Sanatorium at the time.

The nice weekend let us get some more yard work done.  A couple of pictures posted below.
