Tick, Tick, Tick …

Another beautiful fall Saturday and we hit the road again. This time, Shannon decided to fore go the caching and hiking, but Steven, Diane and I were game.  The ultimate plan was to meet up with the rest of the family at my parent’s house in Cleveland.  We opted to take Route #31 around Oneida Lake and hit up a few caches along the way.

The next cache was a tough one.  The GPS coordinates where off about 50′ and there was a lot of “clutter” in the area.  Eventually, we managed to track it down.

Diane picked up a few scratches at Chapman Park …

Our next cache was located at Flo’s Dinner (Keep it Flo’ing).  Diane suggested, “Why not get something to eat while we’re here.”  This might have been our first mistake.  Steven suggested we share a sampler platter.  This was our second mistake.  We left the dinner painfully full and the remainder of caches were just uncomfortable.  This was especially true as we approached a series of caches at Verona Beach State Park.

We also had a couple of caches that we couldn’t find.  I really think we were in the right place, but …

Unfortunately, our tale doesn’t end here.  Once again, Verona Beach State Park produced a tick casualty.  Meet Steven’s little friend …

Yeah, I think it’s pretty safe to say, no more visits to Verona Beach State Park.  Two for two visits resulted in tick infestation.  It’s too bad because they have some nice trails.  However, it’s not really worth it in the long run.  I think its also a safe bet that Diane, Steven and Shannon will concur.
